Ciao, Conce! Ya te extraño. (Julia)

Ya te extraño (I miss you already)

Iva and Carolina, my bus buddies
I'm not a big fan of goodbyes, and I've never been good with transitions. I'm not ready to leave. Three weeks is so short - and for me, it seems like the people I've met here and I are transitioning out of the beginning excitement of a new friendship and into something more meaningfu

I hope to keep in touch with the people here, and maybe return in the future!

The Cavieres Family
Pablo's and Gala
My host family has been wonderful. They are extremely kind, welcoming, intelligent, and creative. I cherish the time I spend with them at once every evening around 8, whether we're talking politics, watching a telenovela called Pobre Gallo (I'm hooked), or laughing at the dog, Gala, because she's trying to jump all over the place during mealtime (she's addicted to attention, and adorable). The house is always the most calming place - someone is either singing or playing guitar, playing a record or a tape (Saturday mornings my host dad blasts 'old' music), or ESPN is on in the background. I'm going to miss this place.
Teacher Dinner with Francisco

Last night we had the teacher dinner at a great restaurant overlooking water and the city of Concepción called La Leña. Long story short, we ate, we talked, we communed, we enjoyed.

Tonight we have the English song festival, an annual event that my duplo teacher, Francisco, along with the English department, puts on each year. I 've been working with two of the contestants from our school, and they're ready!
Ready for the Song Festival

My plane flies Saturday to Santiago, where I get to visit with my last-year host family for a week! I've definitely caught the 'Chile bug,' and I plan to make this a place where I can return in the future.
