Andrea N. Thompson
I made it through 2 weeks. I couldn`t be more excited. This experience has been such a wonderful learning experience. My host family is incredibly thoughtful and gracious. I have really felt like I am a part of the family. We cook together, and I prepare American food for them. They have given me complete access to their home, including a key. They have taken me in and welcomed me as though I have been in the family for years. My student, Paula is just exceptional! We have an unbreakable bond. We laugh, share stories, listen to music, dance, and just giggle like teenagers. She makes me feel young. She said I have inspired her. She wants to see the U.S., which was something she had not thought about previously. I`m glad I have made an impact on her. She has the potential to be great at whatever she decides to do. She often tells me she is lazy. I tell her not to speak such things, when she finds her passion, that spark in her soul will be ignited. She`s a senior in high school and has no idea what she wants to do with her life~that`s normal. She does know that she`s going to college; however, that`s about it. I told her, it will come. My family is so proud that I am having this experience. My friends, who are currently school administrators, are following my journey. They look forward to the pictures and videos I post. I`m so excited that I can share this experience. One more week left.....
