First Week in Chile - Alicia Monroe

The beginning of my Chile trip started in Santiago--I am so happy I decided to spend some time there.  The first couple of days, Jason and I spent a lot of time in Bella Vista-looking out at the Andes seemed unreal.

My first few days in Concepcion were just me and my host mom, Rosa.  My host brother, Vicente, and father, Ariel, were at a bike competition for Vicente--which he won first place, woohoo!!  They did not return until Tuesday.  Rosa and I spent a lot of time talking (Google Translate is super!) and we discovered we're both fans of "Friends."

The first couple of days at CCSP were a lot of fun, but my favorite day was Wednesday when I got to spend the day with my mentor teacher, Francisco, and work with the students.  The kids at CCSP were so excited to spend some time with me and ask me a bunch of questions.  There is one violin so Francisco and I played some Chilean duets together and afterwards a lot of students wanted me to teach them violin, which I was and am more than happy to do.

Chile is beautiful and the food is great.  My family is so kind and I love laughing with them.  Mi mama, hermano, y yo :) just drove to the top of a very steep hill that overlooks the entirety of Concepcion and it was so beautiful-I felt so lucky to be able to do this with such amazing and kind people.  Afterwards we went and got completos-yum!  I am really looking forward to spending more time with the students and teachers at CCSP and of course, mi familia.
