Better Late Then Never - Jacob Vaughn

Finally able to submit a blog! Next stop a twitter account. Enough with my nonsense, lets talk about Chile! It has been almost two weeks and I am having a great time. My host family is great, cooking too much delicious food and "forcing" me to eat/try everything. The only complaint would be the adjustment needed with when they ate. But this is not really a problem... Every weekend they have a trip planned in order to show the landscape as well as the history behind Chile. I took a trip to Ecuador during my undergraduate and I have already learned more out of this study abroad experience.

My bud, Matias, is a blast. Both of us went through a shy period, but moved beyond that quickly. He speaks English very well, which helps the entire family out since I can only communicate a little bit in Spanish. I really like the fact that he walks to school. I was never able to walk to school and being able to is a very different experience then riding the big yellow twinkie to school. I have been assisting Matias study when he needs it. He is very independent with his studies, which is admirable.

The teachers, students, and the LSU Bengal Tigers are a blast. The kids are making all of us feel famous. Sometimes it is too much and overwhelming. Questions after questions, we are drilled. However, this is why we are here to teach and learn from the students while getting to know one another. The teachers are also very nice to us. The teacher I'm working with, Gina, has already bought me a hotdog that is apparently well known here. It is about a foot in length with guacamole, tomatoes, mayonnaise, sauerkraut, and other tasty toppings.... muy bien! She is also a fun person to work with. It's difficult to make math enjoyable, but she has it down to a science.

Here are some pictures from Chile. Hope you enjoy. Blog to you soon blog-nation.
