Sarah Case - Week 2

Last week was the week to get settled and now it almost feels like goodbye. It is crazy how fast this trip is going and all the experiences coming and going. My family is so giving and kind and the food just keeps getting better and better.

This week, my family took me to Piedra del Aguila which is next to cordillera de la costa which was in the mountains. It was absolutely breathtaking. It took us three hours to arrive, but was definitely worth the trip. On the way back we stopped in an Italian town and had the most amazing homemade pasta and bought some procciuto. We bought some fresh pasta noodles that we cooked later in the week.
During the school week, I did not make it to Huertos (elementary school) very often because the high school had a lot going on and we went to a mine in lota called, Chiflon Del Diablo, also know as breath of the devil... It was very neat! It was an underwater mine under the Pacific ocean. It was kind of scary at first because we went down on a rickety little elevator that looked like it would break at any second, but rest assured we all made it out alive!
One of the nights during the school week, my family took me to the laguna on the opposite side of the school to see it from a different view. We got there at sunset, and I have never seen a prettier sunset in my life. We later ate at Alcatorce which overlooked all of Concepcion! The food was amazing, I ate some Chilean lamb and some potatoes. I don't think I've ever had better lamb in my life! I can't believe my second week is almost done, but I can't wait to see what my last week holds!
